Terms of service
The service
Sustenza LLP provides the E-Library (regulator documents, searchable), the Assistant (answers drawn from those documents, with practical suggestions and general guidance where they help), Exposure (obligation and compensation calculators built on the published rules) and the Dashboard (a record of your certificates, targets and waste). Which of these a plan opens is shown on the plans page.
What the service is not
- Not legal, tax or commercial advice. The Assistant quotes the rules and explains them. The suggestions and general guidance it adds (see The Assistant's suggestions and guidance below) are information too, not legal, tax, accounting or commercial advice. Check the cited provision, and take professional advice before acting.
- Calculations are estimates made from the published rules and the figures you enter. Where a rule leaves something open (for example an average life), the calculator shows its assumption.
- The library is a snapshot, and may contain errors. It holds regulator documents (CPCB, the Ministry, the Gazette) as we have them. Amendments, State or Pollution Control Committee directions and changes to the portals may not be in it yet, and we do not update it automatically. Some documents are scanned, and reading a scan can introduce errors in figures: check any figure, date or provision you rely on against the official text. Assistant answers are produced automatically, are checked against the library but can still be wrong, and have not been independently certified.
- Not a regulator's view. Nothing in the service is approved by, or speaks for, CPCB, the Ministry or any authority, and nothing in it is a compliance determination. You remain responsible for your filings and for checking the official portal.

- Not a government service. Sustenza does not represent CPCB, a State Pollution Control Board or any authority. Official filings are made on the regulators' own portals.
- Your Dashboard shows what you record. Its accuracy depends on the entries you make.
The Assistant's suggestions and guidance
An Assistant answer can have three parts, and each is labelled:
- The rules. Quoted from the regulator documents in the E-Library, each with its source. This is what binds you.
- "Sustenza suggestion (not the rule text)". Practical steps for meeting an obligation the answer cites, such as what to keep ready, what to track, or when to start. Each suggestion is linked to the provision it concerns. It is our reading of how to act on that provision, not the provision itself.
- "General guidance (not from the rules, and not legal or tax advice)". Where the rules in the library do not settle a question, for example commercial, contract, tax or accounting questions, day-to-day process questions, or State and local matters, the Assistant may list general points to consider. General guidance never states figures, rates, deadlines, rule numbers or legal conclusions. It is not drawn from the regulator documents, may not suit your circumstances, and should be confirmed with a qualified professional before you rely on it.
The Assistant will not:
- promise an outcome, an approval, a timeline or freedom from penalty;
- invent a figure the rules do not state, or project one that has not been notified;
- give information about another company's records;
- quote Sustenza's own prices (see the plans page);
- help avoid, under-report or disguise an obligation.
Suggestions and guidance are generated automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. You are responsible for decisions you take on them. Sustenza is not liable for a decision taken on a suggestion or guidance alone, to the extent the law allows.
Consultations. Many answers end with "Want advice on your own situation? Request a consultation with a Sustenza expert." A consultation is a separate engagement, with its own scope, terms and fees agreed before any work begins. Using the Assistant does not create an advisory, lawyer–client or consultancy relationship.

Your account
Give accurate details and keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what is done under your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has used it. You can close it at any time from Account → Close account, which permanently erases your account and Dashboard (see the Privacy policy).
Plans and payment
- A plan is bought once for 12 months. (Plans bought earlier for 3 or 6 months run to the end of the term paid for.) Nothing renews on its own, and no card or bank details are kept for later charges. Access runs to the end of the term you paid for. When it ends, the paid features close until you buy another term; your data is kept until you close your account.
- Changing plan. Buying the plan you already have adds the new term after the current one ends, at the full price. Buying a higher plan starts it at once, so its limits and features open straight away, and you pay the price of the new plan less the unused value of the plan it replaces: the checkout shows the price, the credit for your unused time and what you pay today, before you pay. The credit is the time you have left, valued at the price you paid for it. If the credit is as large as the new plan's price, a longer term of the higher plan is offered instead. A lower plan cannot be bought while a higher one is running, because it would replace the plan you paid more for; choose it after the higher plan ends.
- Prices are in Indian rupees (INR) and are shown inclusive of GST. The price at checkout is the price charged. A change of price applies to purchases made after the change, never to a term already paid.
- Payment is taken by Cashfree Payments on its own page. We never see or store your card or bank details. A plan opens when Cashfree confirms the payment; if it does not open, write to us and we will put it right.
- Every plan includes the Assistant. An account that has never held a plan may try the Assistant free for 7 days from its first question, once per account; the trial answers from the Library only. Each plan, and the trial, has a usage allowance measured over rolling five-hour and seven-day windows, and a limit on the size of a question. How much of the allowance is used is shown in Settings. They can change, and a question can be refused when a limit or a system-wide cap is reached, so that the service stays available to everyone.
- Ask us at the address below for a tax invoice for any payment.
- All plans are non-refundable. Once a plan has opened, the payment is final, whether or not you use the service, and whether you close your account early. The only exceptions are the corrections and the cases the law requires, set out in Refunds & cancellation. Please read the plans, and ask us anything, before you buy.
Acceptable use
- Do not try to break, overload or get around the service's limits or security, or probe it for weaknesses without our written permission.
- Do not access, or try to access, anyone else's account or data.
- Do not resell, sublicense or share a paid plan with people outside your organisation, or copy the service's content in bulk (for example by automated scraping), without our written agreement.
- Do not use the service to avoid, under-report or disguise an obligation, or for anything unlawful.
Your data and our content
The data you record in the Dashboard stays yours. You give us the right to store and process it to run the service for you, and only for that. Regulator documents in the E-Library belong to their publishers and are provided with their sources. The software, design and our own text belong to Sustenza LLP; you may use them as part of the service for your own organisation and for no other purpose.
Availability and changes
We work to keep the service available, but we give no guarantee of uptime and do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Regulations change; we update the library and the calculators as we learn of changes, and cannot promise that every change is reflected the day it is published. We may improve, change or retire features. If a change materially reduces what a plan you have already paid for gives, tell us and we will agree a fair remedy, which may be an extension of your term.
Suspension and ending
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk, and will say why unless the law stops us. If we close an account for a reason that is not your breach, we will give you time to export your data first. You can stop using the service at any time; a term already paid for is not refunded (see Refunds & cancellation).
Liability
- The service is provided for information and compliance support, as described above. You are responsible for your filings, payments and decisions, and for checking what you rely on against the published rule.
- To the extent the law allows, Sustenza is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business or goodwill, or any penalty, compensation, fine or charge imposed on you by a regulator or anyone else.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the term in which the claim arose.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. If something goes wrong, write to info@sustenza.in first; we will try to settle it with you within 30 days. If we cannot, the courts at New Delhi have exclusive jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. A change will be posted here with a new "last updated" date, and a change that affects you materially will also be shown in the app. Using the service after a change means you accept it; a term you have already paid for is not made worse by it.
